Measure ambient noise levels in real time.
Click "Start Noise Test" to begin
Click 'Start Noise Test' and allow microphone access. The first bar updates in real time, rising and falling as sounds occur around you. Keep it under 30% for an ideal quiet-room environment.
The second bar records the highest spike in the session — it only ever goes up, not down. Even if the room feels quiet now, a peak in the 'Noisy' or 'Very Loud' range means unexpected sounds could disrupt your calls or recordings.
Below the bars, the tool classifies your room: Quiet Room (ideal), Office Noise (acceptable), Noisy Environment (distracting), or Very Loud (not suitable). Run the test for 30–60 seconds to catch intermittent noises like fans, HVAC, or passing traffic.
If the noise test is giving unexpected results, here are the most common reasons:
Level Stays at 0%
Microphone access hasn't been granted, or the wrong device is selected. Click the microphone icon in your browser's address bar, allow access, then refresh the page.
Always Reads 'Very Loud' in a Quiet Room
Your microphone gain is set too high, or another app is monopolizing the mic. Lower the microphone sensitivity in your OS sound settings and re-run the test.
Level Fluctuates Even Without Sound
This is normal — all microphones pick up faint electrical noise. A small baseline reading under 10% is expected even in a silent room.
Peak Level Is Too High After One Event
The peak bar holds the loudest moment in the session. Click 'Retry' to reset both bars and start a fresh measurement from scratch.
