Test your speakers and verify stereo audio output.
Click anywhere or press a button to enable audio.
Click a button to play sound through the selected speaker channel.
You should hear sound only from your left speaker or left ear. If sound plays on the right side instead, your stereo channels may be swapped.
Sound should come only from your right speaker or right ear. Silence on one side usually means a loose connection, muted channel, or driver issue.
Both channels should play together at equal volume. If one side is quieter, check your system's audio balance settings.
Most speaker problems point to one of these four causes. Each has a straightforward fix.
One Speaker Is Silent
Check your system audio balance. Windows: right-click the speaker icon > Sound settings > Balance. macOS: System Settings > Sound > Output > Balance slider.
No Sound From Either Speaker
Check that the correct output device is selected in your system. Also make sure the tab is not muted and your browser has audio permission.
Bluetooth Speaker or AirPods — One Side Only
Disconnect, forget the device, and re-pair it. On iOS and macOS also check Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Balance is centred.
Speakers Work Outside the Browser Only
Your browser may need a user gesture to play audio. Click anywhere on the page first, then run the test again. This is a standard browser autoplay restriction.
